Article: The Little Girl Behind El Rincón de María

The Little Girl Behind El Rincón de María
Happy Birthday Maria!
Today is a very special day in our family.
Nine years ago, I became a mother for the very first time.

Maria was born on June 23, 2017, and although I didn't know it then, she would completely change the course of my life.
Many of you know our boutique as El Rincón de María, but not everyone knows the story behind the name.
The truth is that El Rincón de María began long before there was a website, a warehouse, a Miami office, or thousands of families following along from around the world.
As a child, I spent many afternoons helping at my mother's children's store in Colombia. Those memories stayed with me for years, even as life took me in a different direction. I built a career in marketing and communications, moved to Barcelona, met my husband, and eventually started a family.
When I became pregnant with Maria, I fell in love with children's fashion all over again (and so did la jefa).
Living in Spain gave me access to beautiful traditional European brands and timeless pieces that were difficult to find in the United States. Like many first-time moms, I wanted the very best for my baby girl. Every outfit felt special. Every purchase felt like a memory in the making.
What started as shopping for Maria slowly became an idea.
Could I bring these beautiful European brands to other families?
Could I share the styles, craftsmanship, and traditions I had fallen in love with while living abroad?
That simple idea became El Rincón de María.
In the beginning, it was just a small side project. I worked a full-time corporate career while running seasonal pop-ups and selling through social media. I never imagined that years later it would become the community that it is today.
Over the years our family has grown. We've celebrated beautiful milestones, welcomed new babies, navigated challenges we never expected, and learned countless lessons along the way.
Through every season, this business has grown alongside our family.
Today, when I look at Maria, I see much more than the little girl who inspired the name of our boutique.
I see the reason I rediscovered a childhood passion.
I see the beginning of a dream.
And I see a reminder that some of the most meaningful journeys start in the most unexpected ways.
To every family who has trusted us with their little ones' first outfits, birthdays, holidays, baptisms, celebrations, and everyday moments, thank you.
You have allowed El Rincón de María to become so much more than a store.
You have helped create a community.
And for that, I will always be grateful.
Happy 9th Birthday, Maria.

With love,
Ana María Certain
