When Life Gives You Lemons: A Sweet Summer Photoshoot Idea You Can Recreate at Home

Summer memories don't have to be complicated.

In fact, some of our favorite photos of our children come from the simplest ideas: a basket of fruit, a sunny corner of the house, and little ones willing to play along for five minutes (or thirty seconds—we'll take what we can get!).

This week, one of our favorite summer capsules inspired a photoshoot theme that is almost too cute not to share:

🍋 Lemons.

Bright, cheerful, affordable, and available at almost every grocery store, lemons make the perfect backdrop for a playful summer photoshoot.

What You'll Need

The beauty of this setup is that you probably already have most of it at home.

• 1-2 bags of fresh lemons
• A basket, wooden crate, or bowl
• A neutral blanket or tablecloth
• Natural light near a window or outside in the shade
• Your favorite summer outfit

That's it.

No balloon arches. No elaborate props. No professional studio.

Just summer.

Setting Up Your Lemons

Some ideas:

Scatter lemons around a blanket in the backyard.

Fill a basket and let your little one "sell" lemons.

Place them in a wooden crate and encourage your child to sort, stack, and play.

The best photos often happen when children forget they're being photographed.

Let them touch the lemons, roll them around, count them, and explore.

Those candid moments are usually the ones you'll treasure most.
